Waiting On Illinois

As of 12am on monday, Otober 31st Illinois is the last state to have any laws that allow its citizens to carry a concealed firearm. Illinois is more than holding back the nation on this issue. With all of the states allowing concealed carry Illinois has been one of the sole reason why the second amendment movement has been haulted at the gate. Without all of the states in the union it has been difficult for gun legislation to be passed. The most recent legislation bill HR 822 was introduced into congress trying to declare concealed carry reciporcity. This would allow all people from all states with a concealed carry license to carry in any state that has concealed carry. Next year I will be going off to college in Illinois where concealed carry still hasn’t been passed. One thing that I have been hoping and praying is that the corruption that happens in Illinois won’t heavily change the outcome of a possible concealed carry bill. I been to many gun stores and shooting ranges in the short time that I have been shooting. With every visit to a new store or range I have talked to many people more knowledge than me about the possiblity of a concealed carry bill being passed in illinois. The range of estimates that I typically get is anywhere from twelve to eighteen months. By that time I will be at least a freshman in college still not of the age to obtain a concealed carry permit. I’ve still got some time to wait either way if the bill takes longer to be introduced or if it is passed sooner, anywhere around two to three years. In that time between the inception of the law and when I get to the age, I will do everything to know exactly what I’m getting myself into. And lets just say I’ve gotten a good start already.
