On December 1 of 2011 the Senate has passed one of the most controversial bills in most recent history, S1867: National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012. The United States has probably just passed the point of no return in the passing of this act. If this bill gets signed by the President, Barrack Obama, the U.S. military can capture and detain U.S. citizens for any reason it desires, anywhere in the world. Just in case you forgot the definition of, “anywhere” this definitely includes the United States of America. Under this Act our armed forces will be considered a “state police force” in direct conflict with our Constitution and The Posse Comitatus Act. The Posse Comitatus Act if you are unfamiliar was passed on June 18, 1878, after the end of reconstruction. It was created to limit the powers of local governments and law enforcement agencies from using federal military personal to enforce the laws on the books. Senator Lindsey Graham a co-sponsor of the bill had this to say:
“The enemy is all over the world. Here at home. And when people take up arms against the United States and [are] captured within the United States why should we not be able to use our military and intelligence community to question that person as to what they know about enemy activity?”
“They should not be read their Miranda Rights. They should not be given a lawyer; they should be held humanely in military custody and interrogated about why they joined al Qaeda and what they were going to do to all us.”
If these phrases don’t make alarm bells to start ringing in your head, I really don’t know what will. This bill allows for suspected terrorists and accused of terrorists to be detained no questions asked. Don’t let the reference to al Qaeda confuse you, you and millions of other U.S. citizen’s fall under Graham’s definition of the enemy. Janet Napolitano and the Department of Homeland Security have already labeled veterans, Constitutionalists, 2nd Amendment supporters, gun owners, Christians, the Tea Party and anyone else who doesn’t agree with Obama as enemies of the state.
In America we live in a very observant culture especially in our small towns. The smaller the towns the harder it is to keep anything private, which could ultimately cost you your own freedoms if someone around you makes the effort to report you to the feds with this new policy. America has always been a watch out for your neighbor's type of society but with this new policy it could be the end of the trust you share with your neighbors.
The most recent activity on this legislation was on December 20th 2011 when President Obama found this bill on his desk and signed it with practically no remorse. He did it so easily because it would be seen as a act of political suicide if he was to veto this bill because of his reelection campaign starting up at the beginning of this year. He said he would make edits to the bill before signing the act into law but as usual with politicians he didn't follow up on his promise and signed the bill. Thhis to me is the beginning of the end becuase of the bi-partisan support for this widely scrutinized bill. Also the complete absence of the main stream media covering this story also means something isn't completely transparent with the hidden agendas of the people in power. I honestly hope everyone is preparing for something big to happen because with this life changing legislation somethings gotta give.
Let's just say when the SHTF I would find a quick way to get out of the country. I'm going to end this post with a quote from one of the most influential founding fathers, "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
